Black Sherif has motivated me to return to music industry – OV

Dancehall artiste, Barbara Naa Okailey Nyarko popularly known as OV has said that Black Sherif is a motivation to her.

In an interview with Giovanni Caleb on Showbiz 360, the season 7 MTN hit maker winner expressed her interest in wanting to feature Black Sherif, VGMA 2023 Artiste of the Year and commended him for how far he had gotten in his music career.

” I’m proud of him. I’m proud of him. He has motivated me. He is one of the people that made me feel like slow down, just keep going” she revealed.

Before this, she had had an interview with Giovanni Caleb on 3FM drive saying that her abrupt exit from Stonebwoy’s record label made her depressed and mentally unstable and that accounted for the long hiatus she took.

“It was after the exit. It was something that hit me very hard. It got me thinking, ‘Am I not enough? It started giving me doubts about deserving to be on a label. It put me through some state that I will not wish for my enemy. It put me through a lot. I was depressed. It got to a point I stayed away from everybody”, OV explained.

OV who revealed that she has recovered from her trauma used the opportunity to inform her fans that she was back.

“I’ve been around. I have been doing music just that, I was just a bit away from mainstream. I’ve been through so much… I have to break a bit to heal and recover from and I was depressed as well so,” she shared

She however refused to go into further details on her trauma but this is a little she said,

“There were a few things that happened to me. I went through PTSDs, a whole lot… I can’t say them right now, it is a happy day for me… I’m fine, more music and I’m going to be on camera now and then”,.she added.

OV Music prior to her exit from Stonebwoy’s Burniton Music group released songs including ‘Zaddy’, ‘Want Me’ and ‘What You Want/everyday’, which were commercial successes.
